I was blessed to spend four years in Appalachian State's Elementary Education program. I believe it has provided me with the best teacher preparation in the state so I can excel in and out of the classroom. As I go forth to teach elementary school in NC, I will proudly wear my black and gold!

Grants, Stipends, Scholarships
The James Patterson Scholarship is available to first year undergraduate students who are studying education and are committed to teaching careers. The award is $7,500 per year for a maximum of 4 years. Students should apply for this scholarship through the university scholarship application at the time of their admission application. The application deadline is November 15.
The Steve and Judy James Scholarship is available to incoming first year students who plan to pursue a career in teaching in North Carolina. The award is $5,000 each year for 4 years. Students should apply for this scholarship through the university scholarship application at the time of their admission application. The application deadline is November 15.
